How does a T-account work?
Can someone explain how a T-account works in accounting? I’d like to understand how the debit and credit sides are organized and how T-accounts help record transactions.

A T-account is a simple accounting tool used to visualize transactions. It looks like the letter “T,” with debits on the left and credits on the right.

    For example:

    Debit (Left)Credit (Right)Cash received $500Cash paid $200

The difference between the two sides gives the account balance. T-accounts are commonly used to understand double-entry bookkeeping, where every transaction affects at least two accounts.

A T-Account is a type of account that is represented graphically in the form of the English alphabet "T". The left-hand side represents the debits, whereas the right-hand side stands for the credits.
