Quick rundown: write the recipient's full name (not "cash") in the "Pay to" field, fill in your address in the purchaser section, and jot the reason for payment (like an account number) in the memo line so it's traceable. Sign only where indicated usually the front, never the back until you're handing it over. Keep the receipt/stub separate from the money order itself; it's your only proof if it's lost or needs tracing. Double-check the amount before leaving the counter most places won't let you edit after purchase.

5 days agoFilling one out is simpler than people expect, but the "pay to" line is where most beginners mess up. Write the recipient's full legal name (not a nickname) in the "Pay to the Order Of" field, add your address in the purchaser section, and include a memo (account number, invoice, etc.) if it's for a bill. Sign only on the front — never the back, that's for the recipient. Keep the receipt separate from the money order itself until it's cashed; it's your only proof if it gets lost or stolen.
