I noticed what is oasdi tax listed on my paycheck and would like a simple explanation. What does OASDI stand for, and what benefits does this tax help fund?

OASDI means Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance. It is the Social Security payroll tax deducted from wages to fund retirement, disability, and survivor benefits for eligible workers and their families.

OASDI is a short form for Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance. This is the Social Security tax that is withheld from one’s income for paying benefits for retirement, disability, and survivors.

Old Age Survivors and Disability Insurance is OASDI. This is the Social Security tax that is levied from wages to finance benefits in case of old age, survivors, and disabilities.
