What is OPEX and how is it calculated?
Can someone explain OPEX in simple terms? I’d like to understand which day-to-day business expenses are considered operating expenses and how businesses typically track them.

Opex, or operating expenses, are the ongoing costs of running a business, such as rent, salaries, utilities, and administrative expenses. It is generally calculated by adding the business's operating expenses for a specific accounting period.

OPEX, or Operating Expenses, refers to the ongoing costs a business pays to run its day-to-day operations, such as salaries, rent, utilities, marketing, and office expenses. It’s generally calculated by adding all operating costs over a specific period: OPEX = Salaries + Rent + Utilities + Marketing + Other Operating Costs. For example, if a company spends ₹2 lakh on salaries, ₹50,000 on rent, and ₹30,000 on other operating expenses in a month, its monthly OPEX would be ₹2.8 lakh.

OPEX, or operating expenditure, is the cost of running a business day to day, such as rent, salaries, utilities, insurance, software, and marketing. To calculate it, add the operating expenses for the relevant period. OPEX = total operating expenses. It generally excludes COGS, capital expenditures, interest, and income taxes.
