What is the difference between debit vs credit accounting?
I’m learning the basics of debit vs credit accounting and would like to understand when each is used in common business transactions.

In accounting, debits and credits make up each side of all transactions. Debits increase assets and expenses, while credits increase liabilities, owner's equity, and income. The effects of debits and credits vary based on the type of account, but the total amount of debits and credits in a transaction must be equal.

Accounting uses debits and credits in each transaction. Increase in assets and expense is done by debits while increase in liabilities, owner’s equity and income is done by credits. The effect of debit and credit varies depending on the account used but the total amount of debits and credits in a transaction should always be equal.

In accounting, debit vs credit refers to the two sides of every financial transaction. A debit is recorded on the left side of an account and generally increases assets and expenses while decreasing liabilities, equity, and revenue. A credit is recorded on the right side and generally increases liabilities, equity, and revenue while decreasing assets and expenses. Every transaction must have equal total debits and credits to keep the accounting equation balanced.
